ATHENS TALKS (Discussions)
Two important discussions: the one about the future and the present of Greek cinema, the other one a tour of the international history of visual counter-information. Athens converses with Paris and with the top curator and theorist of avant-garde film, Nicole Brenez. Significant Greek directors speak with Maria Komninos, Venia Vergou and the audience about what it means to be a filmmaker in Greece during the crisis.

«The Director’s Anxiety at the Penalty Kick»
Four Greek directors who are either at the pre- or at the post-production stage of their new films present excerpts (works-in-progress) and speak with Maria Komninos, Venia Vergou and the audience about how the landscape in film production today has changed, how effective alternative methods of funding (crowd-funding) are but also about how mechanisms of inspiration may be activated in such a “fluid” time as post-production is.

Nicole Brenez talks about A history of visual counter-information from 1913 till today.
Starting from the People’s Cinema 1913, the newsreel films, the Medvedkin Group and contemporary groups Brenez outlines the international history of counter-information.
